RAM 1500 Fuel Economy by Powertrain Configuration

With three engines available and your choice of either 2WD or 4WD, the 2021 RAM 1500 gas mileage on Texarkana streets varies depending on the combination of engine and drivetrain that you choose:

3.0L EcoDiesel V6 Engine:

  • 23 mpg city / 33 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 21 mpg city / 29 mpg highway (4WD)

3.6L Pentastar® V6 Engine With eTorque:

  • 20 mpg city / 26 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 19 mpg city / 24 mpg highway (4WD)

5.7L HEMI® V8 Engine With eTorque:

  • 17 mpg city / 23 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 15 mpg city / 22 mpg highway (4WD)

Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 Engine:

  • 10 mpg city / 14 mpg highway (4WD)

What is eTorque?

eTorque technology is one of the proprietary RAM 1500 features that help distinguish it from the competition. It’s also one of the technologies that helps dramatically increase the RAM 1500 mpg specs compared to other similar trucks. Why is that? eTorque is a mild hybrid system that, when equipped, replaces the vehicle’s alternator. It consists of a 48-volt belt-driven motor that’s powered by a battery. It helps increase torque, payload, and towing capability. Higher EPA-rated fuel economy is a nice bonus, too!

RAM 1500 Efficiency Systems

The RAM 1500 fuel economy isn’t due just to eTorque technology. It’s due to smart engineering all around, including:

  • Transmission – A standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission adjusts shift points for maximum efficiency and smoother shifts.
  • Design – For 2021, the new RAM 1500 boasts an elevated hood and redesigned roof to help lower its drag coefficient.
  • Active Air Dam – Standard in the RAM 1500 Rebel and non-air suspension models, this class-exclusive air dam lowers once the truck gets to 30 miles per hour.
